SWE Membership

Anyone who supports the organization's objectives may apply for membership. SWE has members in every state as well as in more than 20 foreign countries and U.S. military locations overseas. U.S. citizenship is not required.

SWE membership cultivates a lifetime of professional success. SWEs programs and partnerships support the retention and advancement of women in engineering through career services, professional development and networking opportunities. SWE promotes diversity of gender, ethnicity and thought in all of its programs targeting K-12 students through executive-level professionals.

Membership grades are: Student Member, Affiliate, Associate, Member, Senior Member, Fellow, and Honorary.Applicants are assigned to the highest membership grade for which they are eligible. To join SWE today go to www.swe.org/join or for more information about SWE membership, please call (877) SWE-INFO or (312) 596-5223

Life membership in SWE carries prestige. Even if you change professions, you will always be recognized as an engineer. Once your life membership contract is paid (you can take as long as 5 years, if you wish), your SWE dues are waived. Your influence will live on and help other women engineers long after you are able to help directly. Your life membership annually will generate more income for SWE than would be derived from annual dues. Income from your life membership provides a stable financial foundation for the Society. Any future dues increases will not affect you.SWE Lifetime Membership

April showers bring.....SWE dues renewals!  It's that time of year again when we all (except life members) receive a letter/email from SWE HQ requesting we renew our SWE dues for the upcoming year.

Why should you renew now?  Because you will receive uninterrupted member services for the upcoming year (July 1, 2008 thru June 30, 2009) including all member emails, on-line services, newsletters, web seminars, and the award-winning SWE Magazine. You will also be helping your local SWE section get their dues rebates on time, enabiling them to provide you with more benefits in your local area. (Plus no more emails to remind you!)

What are my renewal options?  You can renew fastest & easiest by going to https://www.swe.org/MSC-SWE/renewredirect.aspx (or swe.org, Member Services, Membership Renewal).  You can also send back your renewal notice via mail to HQ.

What about collegiate upgrades?  Graduating students can renew their SWE membership at a reduced rate for the first 2 years out of school.  Many sections also offer free upgrades to students in their area.  Check with your local SWE section (professional and collegiate) for upgrade programs.

This is also a great time to check your profile and update as necessary.  Make sure your contact information is correct (mail & email), that your education records are complete, and that your employment history is updated.  This information is used for a variety of reasons: targeting SWE services, creating new programs, and approving of member grade changes (i.e. member to senior member).

For more information on your dues, member benefits, and other membership information, please contact HQ, your Region B Membership Coordinator (Denise Schultze - denise.schultze@swe.org), or your CNM Membership Coordinator (Vanessa Looper - vanessafromelpaso@hotmail.com).
